Configure a Custom Domain¶
By default your short links live on your store subdomain, for example
yourstore.shrinkit.me. With a custom domain they use a subdomain you own instead, such
as links.yourstore.com — your brand in every link, and links that search engines can
index.
A subdomain is an extension of your domain name: links.yourstore.com and
go.yourstore.com are both subdomains of yourstore.com.
How it works¶
Custom domains are set up together with our support team:
- Ask for a custom domain. Message us on WhatsApp with your
store name and the subdomain you want to use (for example
links.yourstore.com). We reply with the CNAME value for your store. -
Create the CNAME record at your domain provider:
Record type Name / Host Value / Points to TTL CNAME links(the subdomain you chose)The value we sent you Default -
Tell us once it is saved. DNS changes can take up to 24–48 hours to spread. We finish the configuration on our side and confirm when your links are live on the new domain.
Use a subdomain, not your root domain (yourstore.com), so your storefront keeps working.
Creating a CNAME record at common DNS providers¶
If your provider is not listed, search its help centre for "CNAME record" or contact its support.
